wow, how the time flies…
…it’s crazy. there’s a bunch of people at my work who are about to have kids and i somehow turned into the guy who is supposed to have all the answers. and the guy who gives advice without being asked, consulted or what-not. it’s like i’m mr. super annoying now. (watch it! i know what most of you are thinking with that last line…)
owen and kara came to my work this week to see me — it was totally cool. owen was running around the work halls following me from place to place, cube to cube, vending machine to vending machine. he has this tendency now when he walks to get going slightly too fast and then take a face-first digger on the floor. at work it looked like he got carpet burn on his forehead… was pretty funny.
his sign language skills are moving at light speed — he’s learned how to say “plane” everytime sees (or hears) an airplane. we’ve also got him asking for help, saying please and thank you, and then the normal - i’m hungry, thirsty, want milk, etc. and his way of saying bed time (which looks like this) is to slap himself in the face. he’s also giving hugs and kisses on demand. kara was in ikea and told owen to kiss owen and he found a mirror and kissed that instead. go figure.
he gave me a kiss last week which was followed by a punch in the face. i hope it’s not a sign of things to come…
he’s kicking a soccer ball quite frequently now - which is a cool surprise. we play out in the backyard from time to time. he has his ‘owen’ jersey, after michael owen from the uk national team. it’s pretty damn cool.
we think ‘mama’ is his first word — but we’re not convinced. he knows who all of us are by name (including phoebe), so when you tell him to go find mama, he’ll walk around until he finds kara. but, he calls everything ‘mama,’ including the cats…
photos updated.
love you all.
