closer, ever closer
so… my time off is almost up. i start my new job on monday.
the kitchen is almost done. the counter guy shows up today to install the counters. the hardwood flooring starts on friday and should be done next week. after that the plumber shows up and we’re basically done (except for the backsplash and some trim work.) my parents were up this week helping out (thanks mom and dad!)
owen is inching closer to being two now — which means he really understands that he can throw tantrums now. he’ll quite literally stomp his feet when he wants something and force a cry out if he doesn’t get it. last night we were having dinner with some good friends and owen started belting out in the restaurant. the only way to calm him down was to take him outside. once outside, he’d calm right down, but the moment (and i mean the moment) it touched the door he’d start crying again. it got to be funny and then it got frustrating as the beer at my table got warmer and my food got colder.
those little gears inside his head know exactly what they’re doing. it becomes this weird parenting challenge.
since the house is getting ready for the flooring folks, i cannot really update the photos or anything for a week or so. i am sitting on the floor of our guest bedroom typing this, with my keyboard on a box. it’s like being in college all over again, except our things are slightly nicer.
oh, and we cut a couch in half yesterday. wasn’t as fun as cutting the stove in half, but it was pretty cool.
