the quiet of a sunday morning

owen in a new chair

kara is asleep.  i took a minute to test out our new coffee machine.  it does all the work for you.  all you do is put whole beans in and set the brew strength to “apocalyptic” and off you go.

owen woke up with a whimper.  kara poked me with her foot and said: “didn’t sleep.  you get him.”  five words and then she was out like a light again.  to be fair, she’s the one that stayed up late getting ready for brunch today.  and watching caden, while i fell asleep at, like, ten p.m. or some such.  getting old is doing that to me, but don’t get me started on that. (and mom, don’t go posting comments about me feeling old and you telling me otherwise. :P)

but, here we are on a sunday morning with the kitchen near finished (bearing in mind we never actually finished the backyard.  there’s still a planter out there we need to… plant), owen is watching elmo (again), and i try to type above the treble of elmo that pierces every nook and cranny in this house.  i despise that little monster.

we’ll likely have a bigger update later today — owen is going to hunt for eggs in the backyard.  i’m going to drink beer.  and we’re all going to enjoy the global-warming-induced awesome weather.

maybe san francisco will be the new los angeles in thirty years.  you can keep the gameshow host people down there though.  i’d rather have my granola loving hippies.

marc and aimee are only weeks away at this point — 6 or so for them to go.  hang in there, you two.  in twenty, or so more months, we can talk about how much you hate elmo too.

then again, you probably won’t use a digital babysitter the way we do. :P

oh, and apocalyptic grind strength is just right.

We have that same coffee maker - it is THE best. I think Todd has increased his consumption to 12 cups per day since the birth of Tyler. Like you, he has morning duty so I don’t blame him.

  2. That is the biggest smile on the history of smiles.
    :D
