words to live by…
owen is picking up language much faster than i think we anticipated. he’s expanded his vocabulary to include such staples as: motorcycle (ugh), elevator, helicopter and some of the simpler ones too: hello, bye-bye, and please.
he’s taken to conversations on the phone (whether you are on it or not) and will actually pace around the house while he holds the phone in his tiny hands, making it look like one of those field phones from world war II that look like they cover the entire face. but there he goes, pacing back and forth, talking in his baby gibberish with the cadence and tone of a business professional on a coference call.
he now says cookie when i come home from work, so if he’s not asking for money, he sure as hell asks for his “coo-coo.” he basically has the run of the house at this point. he tells us where the cats are, tells us when a car goes by, tells us when a plane has flown overhead, tells us when he sees anyone or anything go for some water. he tells us all about his day in this baby-speak that only (yes, only) kara understands.
he understands that daddy-juice means beer and obediently gets some for whomever asks. he carries it to you with both hands around the neck, as if he is carrying something highly explosive. he walks with care, making sure not to trip.
and then, yes then, he said the word tricycle. we don’t even know where he picked it up… i blame that p.i.t.a. elmo, who seems to have nine-thousand episodes about his little tricycle. kara just ordered one for his birthday. he’s going to go ballistic.

Wow, such a cutie! Teach him the word ‘python’. You never know when it’ll come in handy
