owen got baked…
owen made cookies today. he wasn’t as excited as we were hoping he would be. he knows the word ‘cook’ and he knows the word ‘cookie.’ so, when you ask him if he wants to cook cookies, he looks at you all funny-like and gets confused.
of course, he hears, ‘cookie’ and runs over to the pantry, opens it and starts looking around for the oreos.
we used alton brown’s recipe — chewy — and generally speaking they came out okay. kara thinks they’re too cake-y, and we slightly overcooked all of them, but it was fun to watch owen at the oven door when 2 + 2 made sense to him again. and then he found the deliciousness that is chocolate chips… he didn’t know about the batter — i think it freaked him out a bit. he kept getting it on his hand and then flailing about the way cats do when they have wet paws.
we, of course, fell in love with cookie dough all over again.

‘got 2 antique dolls already for the upcoming sequel. the sequel’s brother is looking more and more like a school boy. and Aimee, that kid of yours getting cuter and cuter all the time.
