UP UPPIE!

owen loves the UPS truck and with the amount of deliveries we and our neighbor gets we see our delivery truck guy almost daily.  owen calls the UPS truck up uppie which i think makes him a genius because he can read, okay really just a lucky toddler talk reiteration of UPS truck.  anyway, most [...]

ready to be a big brother

so over the past couple of weeks i’ve been reworking (painting, sewing changing pad covers, recovering the chair, making a mobile and purchasing various accessories) the nursery to look a little different for the new baby.  i’m not sure what owen remembers of the old nursery and i didn’t want to have to contend with any feelings [...]

saturday night

‘ow.’ ‘ugh.’ ‘ow.’ ‘ugh.’
rinse, repeat.
we think the baby ‘dropped’ as they put it.  marc and aimee were here waiting for the: ‘holy crap, it’s on!’ sort of signal so we could all leap into action and take kara to the hospital.
no news yet.  any day now.

mistaken identity

today owen saw a little boy that looked similiar to caden and started calling out, “caden! caden!”  but than he realized it wasn’t caden after all and mutter “ooooh” and furrowed his brow in disappointment.  we miss you caden.

the saline salvation

marc and harrison came over on saturday so we could go to the tour de fat — it’s held every year, owen went last year rocking his afro bike helmet. it was a lot of fun. aimee couldn’t make it as she was helping her sister get ready for her wedding — which [...]

gut-check - 38 weeks

updated once again — two more weeks to go! more like two more weeks to whoah! yes, we have names picked out.  no we’re not sharing.

dear aimee…

owen knows you’re coming here on friday.  he can’t stop asking about you.  he sees a car on the street and runs over to kara and says, ‘aimee!’

a conversation with owen

‘Owen, what’s up there?’
‘I no-nooooooo!’ (translation: I don’t know…)
‘Can you see it?’
‘I an eeeee it!’ (translation: I can see it!)
‘We’re almost there!’
‘Almo dere!’ (translation: Almost there!)
‘1…2…3…’
‘NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNEL!’ (translation: Tunnel!)

and i swear to you, he does this every single time we approach and then enter a tunnel when we drive.  it’s painfully cute.  i wish everyone had [...]

another eventful weekend…

we took owen to see wall-e this weekend. it was like taking him out for the first time after he was born — we were a bit nervous that he’d be a p.i.t.a. in the theater. it didn’t help that i bought tickets for the 4:40 show thinking it started at 4. [...]
