12 hours of the boys

my wife needed to get wasted.  so i took it on myself to take care of the boys for a day while she jumped in a limo with her friends to be whisked off to a bachlorette party where she would drink for 12 hours.

and… this should make my mom happy… taking care of two kids at once is hard.  i mean, that’s real work.  over the course of the day i got far more accustomed to what kara goes through with both of them at once.  dylan operated like clockwork — took his naps when he was supposed to, ate when he was supposed to, crapped when he was supposed to.  that was easy.

owen, however, fought his nap and then got considerably more grumpy when i wouldn’t put yo gabba gabba on the television at his beck and call.  to the point he did that thing that little kids do where they cry for so long that it sounds like hyperventallating hippo. you know, when they suck in air between words but don’t actually seem to be breathing?  owen did that.  oh, that and he wouldn’t eat at all during the day.  like some sort of marathon protest.

past that, it was just tiring.

owen did continue to show his nurturing side — he would stand watch over dylan on his playmat when i asked him to.  he would try and make dylan laugh on command.  he’s just an adorable big brother.  while owen is not the most adventerous child, he certainly is incredibly caring.

dylan is going through his phase where he babbles non-stop.  it’s pretty cute, except from time to time he sounds like a cat who got its tail stepped on.  we watched soccer together during owen’s nap.

so, to my wonderful wife, you’re incredible for doing that everyday.

And that is why you never ask a stay at home mom what do you do all day? How I hated when some one would say that to me. Like what I did was not important…..now you know. I think it is easier to get up and dress nice and go talk to adults. Being a mom is not that easy of a job and it is never done…

    But my grandsons are perfect….

Kara is an awesome Mom and deserves every break she gets.

Love you all and have a great trip
